Ordering a Regular Cray XT3 License

For Cray XT3 systems, we will generate two sets of license keys. One is for your login nodes—this license contains an LINUX/8664-XU-1P statment. These login nodes are where TotalView and the TotalView Server, (tvdsvr) actually run. The second set of licenses contains a CATAMOUNT/AMD64-XU-YP statement. A tvdsvr is started for each set of 64 or less compute nodes needed for a job. This server communicates with the compute nodes using a Cray-supplied library.

If the CATAMOUNT/AMD64 license is for less than 64 processors, you will need to add the –nodes_allowed command-line option to limit the number of licenses that TotalView tries to check out. This option is described in the TotalView Reference Guide. Adding this option to a single or bulk launch server string is described in the TotalView User Guide.

If your system has more than one set of CATAMOUNT licenses and the number of users and processors varies, the LINUX/8664 license user count should be the total of all the CATAMOUNT users. The TotalView Technologies Sales group will help you coordinate this.
