MARCH 16, 2010
Natick, MA, March 16, 2010 - TotalView Technologies, a Rogue Wave Software company, the leading provider of interactive analysis and debugging tools for serial and parallel codes, and KAUST, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, jointly announce that the recently-established university in Thuwal, Saudi Arabia, has selected TotalView® to provide the debugging capabilities required for all its research labs. TotalView Technologies will form a partnership with the university’s technology innovators.
KAUST, unique in many ways in Saudi Arabia, is the first coeducational university in the kingdom, an international graduate-level research facility planned and established as a central part of an entire newly constructed community also encompassing a marine sanctuary. KAUST envisions inspiration and discovery as the essence of its role in bringing in a new age of scientific achievement both locally and globally. In their quest to equip their supercomputer center, research computing, and research labs with the best applications in the world, they evaluated and selected TotalView, which will be available to the research scientists and engineers throughout the entire university.
“Our goal of establishing our labs with the most advanced and effective tools for development naturally led us to consider TotalView for debugging,” said Sharan Kalwani, Research Computing & Development Manager, IT, at KAUST. “Our partnership with TotalView Technologies is going to enable our scientists and engineers to perform advanced research more quickly by helping them improve the quality of their code and cutting the time it takes to complete their development.”
TotalView is the premier comprehensive source code analysis and memory error detection tool that dramatically enhances developer productivity by simplifying the process of debugging parallel, data-intensive, multi-process, multi-threaded or network-distributed applications. Built to handle the complexities of the world’s most demanding applications, TotalView offers a number of advanced features that help speed development and eliminate bugs quickly, and is capable of scaling to thousands of processes or threads with applications distributed over multiple machines or processors.
TotalView 8.7, released in September 2009 just prior to KAUST’s inauguration, introduces complete integration with MemoryScape and support for heterogeneous debugging across several Linux platforms, including x86, x86-64, and the 64-bit Power processors.
“We are pleased to be partnering with KAUST’s technology innovators in their expansion of scientific research facilities and higher education in Saudi Arabia,” said Brian Pierce, CEO of Rogue Wave Software. “TotalView is the leading analytical and debugging tool used in universities around the world, and we anticipate it being a key element in streamlining development at KAUST.”
